Physician Assistant (Job Opening 449937) - The position is expected to function on the day shift in the Operating Rooms in The Ohio State University Medical Center, the Orthopaedic patient care units, the outpatient clinics, and other patient care areas as needed. The position will experience extended hours and emergent call-in to meet patient needs. This position is responsible for surgical assisting during Orthopaedic (sports medicine) surgical procedures, performing histories and physicals, making pre and post operative rounds, placement of catheters, post operative removal of catheters and tubes from patients, assisting in the management of patients in the outpatient clinics, assisting in the training of students and staff, and competing documentation of services, all under the supervision of an orthopaedic surgeon.
For Hire: Graduation from an accredited surgical physician assistant program. National Certification Commission for Physician Assistant certification. Eligibility for State of Ohio licensure as a physician assistant. Minimum 3 years of Physician Assistant experience is preferred.

Physician Assistant Cardiothoracic Surgery
The Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery has several openings for Physician Assistants to work strictly in the OR. The program you will be joining is one of the largest, most experienced cardiac and thoracic surgery groups in the world, our Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery cares for patients from all 50 states and around the world. Our surgeons offer virtually every type of cardiac surgery including elective or emergency surgery for heart valve disease, aortic aneurysm, coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, heart failure, Marfan syndrome and other less common conditions. This program also includes heart/lung transplants. You will perform in the first assist role alongside the surgeon and/or fellow/senior resident in cardiovascular and thoracic procedures. Within the role you will first assist in various duties during the surgical procedure such as coronary anastomosis, vein harvesting, suturing, etc. A review of the perioperative data for each case performed with Staff surgeons is an expectation in this role. There is a nine to twelve month orientation for this position. The hours range from 645am start to 1130pm. There are a variety of shift to be offered including; 4-10 hours shift, 3-13 hour shifts, and 2-8’s/2-12’s. There is day and evening shifts available for role. Open to new licensed graduates with an OR rotation preferably in Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Community Engagement Coordinator
The Physician Assistant Program at Case Western Reserve University invites applications to fill a junior level faculty position. This is a non-tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, and 0.8 FTE, 12-month faculty position reporting directly to the Physician Assistant Program Director.
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
Didactic Curriculum: teaching and course coordination with emphasis on professional issues series and health systems science courses; facilitation of community-based health-promotion clinical experiences; evaluation and outcome analysis of hard and soft patient outcomes associated with health promotion experiences; implementing Experiential Learning and Community Service Learning opportunities for first and second year students.
Establish and cultivate relationships with community partners, creating experiential learning and community service opportunities across the life span, focusing on patient centered care with a special focus on understanding the impact of social determinants on health. Prepare students to provide medical care to patients from diverse populations.
Clinical Curriculum (pre-clinical clerkships and clinical rotations): Overseeing the deployment of longitudinal curricular themes focusing on professionalism, health systems science, patient centered communication and shared decision making in pre-clinical clerkships (year 1) and clinical rotations (year 2).
Additional responsibilities include: student advisement and mentoring; the monitoring of student performance; participation in evaluation and outcome analysis of PA curriculum; participation in interprofessional education opportunities; involvement and leadership in PA program community outreach programs as well as scholarship activities.
The position also includes active involvement in the PA program admissions process, maintaining PA program accreditation and university service including active participation on program, school and university committees. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to maintain clinical practice hours.
Qualifications for this position include graduation from an accredited physician assistant program, minimum of an earned Master’s Degree, proven clinical precepting and/or teaching experience, and minimum of three years current clinical experience, current NCCPA certification and eligibility for licensure in the State of Ohio. Advanced computer skills required with proficiency in using databases and clinical evaluation software. Experience in PA education is desirable.
